Image Jaxon Brown

Have you ever wondered if dogs were advanced enough to perform tasks that go beyond fetching the paper or rolling over on command? Well, yesterday Jaxon the dog created his own facebook page.

Facebook is a popular website where people can set up their own personalized page about themselves, and then connect with "friends" to share photos, messages, videos, etc. It's a great way to stay in touch with people, and apparently Jaxon felt the need to get up with the times.

If you're a Facebook user, search Jaxon Brown and ask to be his friend. He loves the people.

Image CHAT Students Win 2nd in National Competition

Every year, C-SPAN holds a Student Cam competition where middle and high school students can submit videos about a specific theme. This year, the theme was "A message to the new president: What is the most urgent issue for the new president to address after taking office, and why?"

Claire Compton, CHAT's broadcast journalism teacher, had her advanced broadcast students create videos for this contest as a class assignment. After several months of researching, filming, and editing, the students submitted their videos by inauguration day. Last week, Compton received word from C-SPAN that three of her students, Whitney Strong, Allison Moore, and Michelle Harris, had won second place out of almost 1,000 entries nation-wide.

Their winning video addresses how poverty affects education. Check it on C-SPAN's website at http://studentcam.viddler.com/videos/watch.php?id=6aa68968.

Way to go girls! Congratulations on all your hard work and awesome accomplishment!

Image Check it out people! Ronald at the controls. Oh, he'll answer your calls, he'll play your commercials, he'll wear those headphones, he'll speak the truth.

Gwen, Mark, and Ronald were back in the studio this week with fresh energy, high spirits, and a revived direction for the show: Keeping it POSITIVE! Real Talk is committed to making the show uplifitng, fun, meaningful, and well...positive!

Also, as a new segment, negative callers get the opportunity to hear a round of, "Who Let the Dogs Out," if they call in with negative things to say. Amazingly, not a single negative call was received all week!

And just when you thought things couldn't get any better, Wild Dave Wednesdays are back! You don't want to miss the laugh-out-loud moments with Dave in the studio!

Real Talk is proud and dedicated to providing the listeners with a show that operates above the negativity, and appreciates all of those who are looking (or listening) for something different. And it does make a difference, as one caller put it, "it uplifts my spirit."

Image Wild Dave's New Email Address!

BIG news to all of those listeners out there who have been DYING to send Wild Dave an email for advice on your exotic pet, squirrel hunting, how to fry balogna with pickle juice, or perhaps the latest digs from Hollywood. Well, the wait is over!

Send Wild Dave an email at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it . We can even post some of the answers to questions here on the Real Talk site, in Dave's Wild Corner. Watch for updates!

Former NFL Star, Randy Gradishar, in the Studio!

Image

It was such a special treat to have former Denver Bronco's linebacker, Randy Gradishar, in the studio!

The only thing that outshines Mr. Gradishar's outstanding football stats is his love for his children and for community.  Mr. Gradishar has spent his post-football years giving back to the community.

On the show, Mr. Gradishar answered questions, made the audience laugh (doughnut, anyone?), and wiped tears from his eyes when he spoke of his pride over his daughter, Paige Gradishar, a Freedom Foundation volunteer.

Ronald, Mark and Gwen shared their memories of where they were on that day, while callers called in to talk about the good that it brought out in this country.

Wild Dave: We got in a box of baby ferrets, so I opened the box to say, "hey babies," and one of them leapt out and attacked me.

I ran screaming through the store with this ferret on my face, while the customers were shouting, "There goes Wild Dave, look at him go!"

Summer Slam Alumni Basketball Game a HUGE Hit!

ImageThe gym was packed and the energy was electric! All-star players from the 70's to 2006 came back for the basketball event of the year.

And the score? Tied! 69 to 69. The outcome of the game made everyone leave feeling like they had won, and set it up perfectly for a rematch!

As for the half-time show, D-Moe and Dukester went head to head in a 3 point shoot-out. The Dukester sank 15 3-pointers  and one 1/2 court shot!

It was an AMAZING night! Thanks to all the players and fans who came out to support the event. All proceeds went to P.A.L.S. and Save a Life Foundation.

Which Biscuit?

ImageImageImage

After much debate, we had to set aside all differences and rumors, and get the facts straight. The debate? Where in Selma can you find the softest, warmest,  most delicious biscuit?
Mark, Ronald and Sean Black were up for the challenge. The Real Talk staff scouted out the top five contenders. From Burger King, to Hardee's, the buscuits started rolling in the studio.
The winner by a landslide...the sweet buiscits at the Chevron on Broad Street. That is one rumor laid to rest.

Real Talk Takes the Lanes

Mark Beat Obama's Score Blindfolded!!!

Check out these pictures from the live remote at the bowling alley! Mark bowled his first game blindfolded, blew Obama's score out of the water, and even made a few strikes!

Image     Image     Image

Since Mark won the bet that he could beat Obama's bowling score blindfolded, Senator Obama will be writing Mark a letter to congratulate him on this major feat!

People from the community came out to cheer Mark on, and to do a little bowling themselves!

Mark and Obama Bowl Off!

Image So....apparently Barack Obama isn't trying to set any bowling records. Real Talk got wind of Obama's latest bowling score, (a 37!) and the challenge is on! Mark bet that he could beat Obama's score BLINDFOLDED.

Real Talk got in touch with a member of Obama's campaigning team, and they agreed that if Mark wins, Obama will write Mark a letter of congratulations, and if Mark loses, he has to wear a t-shirt thatsays "Obama bowls better than I do."
Come on down to the Selma Bowling Alley this Friday from 9-10:30am to cheer Mark on! Real Talk will be doing a live remote from the lanes and there will be prizes and refreshments. You won't want to miss this!

While in Washington D.C., Mark bought Gwen a shirt with her favorite candidate on the front!
